So, I am not as far into my Christmas shopping as I would like to be. Ideally I would like to have everything done but last minute stocking stuffers- but lets be honest, even if I did have everything purchased, I would probably still find things to blow my budget closer to Christmas. So maybe its a good thing that I know I'm not done yet.
Anyways, so far we do have the kids BIG gifts already. We snagged a couple of the Kindle Fire kids bundle when they went on sale Black Friday-Cyber Monday. Originally $99 for the bundle-which includes a kids case (color options were blue or pink), a year free of Amazon's Free time which allows parental controls to the extreme, and the kicker-a 2 year no questions asked warranty. I have a highly destructive 4 year old in my house so this was REALLY a great selling point. WE snagged this great bundle for $84.99 which saved us $28 on the pair.
The problem we ran into was that the blue bundle was not going to arrive before Christmas according to the delivery estimates as it was out of stock and not gong to be back in stock until the 19th. So, we opted to buy the pink bundle-which was supposed to be here the 23rd and is now surprisingly supposed to arrive today- and purchased a blue and green case separately.
It looks like we might have been able to go with just the blue bundle and it probably would have gotten here sooner than originally thought, but who wants to gamble like that at Christmas time?
My kids shared their top 5 wish list with me and not surprising at all my 2 older boys pretty much want Legos.
This is both great and terrible. Great because Lego's last forever and can change with the child's interest. Sure, he may like Star Wars or Minecraft today, but in 4 years he can use those same pieces to build a city or a space ship. Also, the younger siblings can use them when they are old enough to care.
The reason they are a little terrible is because generally they are pretty spendy. I can see my budget getting blown up by the crazy cost of the sets.
My oldest asked for A set with General Grevious. I did a quick search and the only current one I found was about $20, so at least that one isn't too bad.
I haven't spent too much time digging into the Lego world since the Husband and I have not hammered out details yet.
I do know that my oldest daughters list contained a combination of simple and expensive. She wants an entire ballet outfit. Tutu and shoes, leotard and hair accessories. That ensemble is going to set us back a bit. I am hesitant to do it because at this point she isn't taking lessons, so when will she even wear it? Is it a waste of money?
Probably. Unless I can find a place to take her every other week that isn't ridiculously far away or expensive.
I managed to find a few things for the husband. I got him a photo stainless steel coffee mug from Shutterfly.com. I was a little frustrated about how I had a really great picture of all my kids and no matter which mug I picked (even the create your own layout one) I could not fit the whole picture. It cropped out half of each kid on either side of the photo. I even tried re-sizing the picture and a cropped version and each attempt was worse than the original. I am hoping that maybe the field of view will be a little bit bigger on the actual mug. I picked up a couple smaller items -a back scratcher and a stress ball- just as silly little things for him.
I think the stress ball will come from the 4 year old human tornado.
