A Jamberry Nails review

I have recently rediscovered this pretty nifty product called Jamberry Nails which you can check out on their website Jamberrynails.net . Chances are you have seen someone somewhere throwing an online party via facebook. That is where I first saw them last September. I ordered a couple of wraps for myself-a rose patterned one and a Halloween themed one as well as a set of Jamberry Juniors for my daughter. At first I was only slightly impressed and I think I used each set once and then quickly forgot about them. The premise for this product is pretty simple. It's non-toxic, doesn't smell and lasts longer than nail polish does-the sites boast a 2 week life on your manicure and up to 4 weeks on a pedicure. At first it seemed like too much work and I didn't do it again. It also did not help that the consultant who threw the online party was not very reliable. It all seemed rushed and not for me.

Fast forward to a week ago and I got invited to another online party. I decided for some reason to give it another try. I was pleasantly surprised! The consultant throwing it had great games for us to play and was very timely in her responses. She also showed up for games when she said she would as opposed to people having to constantly remind her. She also had some cool prizes for those than won. There was a Jamberry version of Deal or No deal which made the party exciting...we would root for the luck lady to get a good deal and the participation level was a lot higher than the first party I "went" to. There was a word jumble, hands of horror (where we tried to find the worst manicures and pedicures we could) and my personal fave, the consultants version of 20 questions-she would chose a wrap pattern and we, asking only yes or no questions, had to try and figure out which it was.

I started chatting with some of the ladies and watching some videos about the application process and I decided to give it another go.
Using the tape trick (where you apply scotch tape to your nails, trace the size and shape and use that as a guide to choose the right jamberry nail for each of your nails) I found it much simpler than my first couple go rounds. I am happy to say that the wraps have lasted longer this time around too since I actually followed the instructions on cleaning the nails with an alcohol wipe first and applying heat at the proper times.
I also stumbled across a video that details how to put the wraps on without a heater or hair dryer. I have to say that this method looked a lot easier and definitely something I wanted to try-especially on my 4 year old who has tiny little nails.

Now, it wasn't perfect. Getting a 4 year old to sit still is no easy task and her tolerance for the heat and pressure is not the same as an adults-so one of the nails gave us some trouble as far as staying on. I was warned by the consultant that kids finger nails have A LOT of oil so it may take us some time to get it down right as far as the cleaning and proper time and pressure goes. But it certainly was easier than painting her nails! In the past the nail polish has ended up on her skin and when I have to go handle something else I would come back and often find the polish smudged or completely wiped off. Of course the longevity was an issue as well-within hours the polish would be chipped and usually within a day or two it would be completely gone.
This is what her nails looked like after our first attempt (since last year that is)

She was really excited about her manicure and skipped off happily and I did not have to worry about her getting polish on her clothes, in her hair or on my carpet.

I had already applied some wraps using a hair dryer to heat up the wraps but I wanted to change my accent nail so I too used the plastic bag + rice pack trick and it worked so well! It was far quicker than the traditional method and since my baby was napping I was thankful for the fact that I didn't have to turn on a hair dryer or go hide in the other room to use it! I am still new at the process so its not seamless for me yet but I am getting better.

From the party I participated in I did their Buy 3 Get 1 free deal and got to play a game that I won a full sheet of wraps for free. I later purchased another sheet because I couldn't help myself-and the hostess was only $10 away from reaching the next level of rewards. Because I did that I got a free pedi-pack from the hostess which is the two largest wraps and is enough to do a single pedicure. So, I spent $60 and got the 3 wraps I paid for, plus 2 free sheets ($30 value) plus the pedi-pack and a free sheet of accent nails which is 5 wraps of different designs.

So it's worth it to check out a facebook party if you see one-you can get free samples too and give it a try before investing in it. Now some people (my husband included) are put off by the $15 price tag-especially since nail polish is not that spendy, but each sheet gives you 2 manicures and 2 pedicures plus 8-16 accent nails and come in many designs that you can't get from a bottle of nail polish. Going to get a manicure is expensive, time consuming and you still aren't necessarily going to come out with roses, birds or unicorns on your nails! There is also the fact that you aren't having to deal with harsh chemicals like those that are in nail polish or nail polish remover. The wraps are not tested on animals, are gluten free, made in the good ol' U.S.A, latex free and there are so many designs and colors to chose from you will easily find several of them to fit your style. From floral, to solid to sparkly and whimsical-there is a wrap for everyone!

If you are wanting to chat with a consultant (or book an online party) I recommend Jessica Paradise, she was amazing, professional and fun! You can email her at mrs.paradisejams@gmail.com and you can order from her site here.
